The Maharat program will enhance local economic development
by achieving the following objectives:
-
Improve the business and personal skills of recent
Jordanian university graduates.
-
Create new jobs for recent university graduates.
-
Complement and enhance the effectiveness of client
services provided by BDC providers.
-
Provide a platform to foster the know-how and hands-on-
experience of local volunteer experts.
The Maharat Program is set up to offer two different scenarios:
The On-the -Job Maharat Program lasts for six months whereby interns receive a
total of 85 hours worth of training courses delivered by SME practitioners and
local or international experts in diverse areas such as financial analysis,
marketing and human resource management with the inclusion of case studies,
group problem solving and public speaking courses.
The Maharat Pioneers focuses on training Jordanian recent graduates from
Jordanian universities in fields most demanded by current business environment,
such as human resources development, public relations and customer service. A
group of 30 graduates are selected at a time with high English and excellent
communication skills to attend 120 intensive training hours in one of the above
mentioned fields delivered by high caliber professional practitioners. Upon
completing the training, a job fair is conducted where around 20 companies from
different sectors such as telecommunications, services, and banks are invited to
interview the Pioneers with the aim of placing them as full time staff members
(employees??).
As an intern with the On-The-Job Maharat Program, the intern works for a
six-month period with a stipend that Maharat subsidizes 50% of, at a job that
matches the intern’s criteria and skill-set, in projects with TATWEER client
enterprises. After the completion of the six-month internship, the TATWEER
client enterprise hires the intern as a permanent employee.
Both Maharat On-the-Job and Maharat Pioneers help increase employment, build
human capacity and ultimately positively enhancet the competitiveness of
Jordanian companies and Jordanian university graduates.
